Book 2 sees some nice plot movement and good dialogue with the kids. I think Daisy is my favorite character; she has so much spunk and life.Unfortunately, Lexi continues to disappoint me as the story moves on. In book 2 she seems especially airheaded and I am not a fan of her general cluelessness about everything. The contrast to Keiran, who apparently can figure anything out, is bad. That message bothers me, because it paints the female as dumb and weak and the male as smart and strong. This is reinforced with the frequent Lexi-needs-to-be-rescued scenes, and the more frequent losing-her-head-because-of-lust scenes, and the Lexi-isn't-smart-enough-to-win-an-argument-with-Keiran scenes. Seriously, the woman just needed to rub some brain cells together and stop being lead around in a leash (and I don't mean just with Keiran). She's certainly easy for everyone around her to manipulate. It's hard to respect her as a character, as a result. For a lot of the book, I was ready to give 2 stars but I endured for the plot and was reward enough to give it 3. My secret hope, though, is that we get a spin-off about Daisy out of this series because such a colorful character is more deserving of center stage.

This is the sequel to Sin & Chocolate, and the second book in the Demigods of San Francisco series, and it doesn't disappoint. (I wasn't sure how K F Breene was going to improve upon S&C, but the story does keep improving.)Synopsis: Kieran, demigod son of the demigod ruling magical San Francisco, and heir to the Irish seas and Ireland, seeks to release his mother's soul from a purgatory/hell of not being able to move onto her next life. His father has found a way to trap souls so they cannot move on--and more than just Kieran's mother.Alexis has a heart of gold, as witnessed by her taking in of two outcast children and her willingness to help the dead (and sometimes the living) to move on. Her magic allows her to see and hear the dead; her sense of justice is outraged when she discovers that souls are being trapped and tortured. Kieran and Alexis are mutually attracted, and are dancing around a relationship in the stereotypical Irish manner: equal parts flirting with and annoying each other.Alexis is hired by Kieran to help release his mother, and is required to get training. Her trainer, courtesy of Kieran, can be described as an adrenaline junkie with next to no sense of self-preservation, and none when it comes to Alexis. We also discover more about the Six, Kieran's bodyguards. It's a helluva ride, with moments humorous, moving, comforting, horrifying, and empowering.I will recommend that you read Sin & Chocolate first to get all the nuances, but can be read as a standalone.

Wow! What a fantastic addition to an already phenomenal series. Granted it's only the second book, but what a book 2 it is.💖💖💖💖💖The S&M story was just perfect. I love catching up with all the characters from book 1 and meeting a few new ones. The author has continued to build the world up with amazing detail. This is a unique, original series unlike any I've read before. The characters, story line and scenes are developing and written in such detail that it doesn't take a lot of effort to be able to picture it in your head.😍😊😉🤫🤭Alexis is still sassy and confident, most of the time, but sometimes she shows her vulnerable side. In the first book, Kieran was shown to be the perfect example of a Demigod; forbidden, sexy, dangerous and full of ego. In book two he is still all of these, but you get a chance to see his softer side as it develops. They are still a match made is Heaven.👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨I like the kids, sassy, foul-mouthed Daisy and sweet but fierce Mordecai. In book two Mordecai is all healed up and they have both been taken under the wing of The Six, well, all except Zorn, who chose to not join in on training the kids. They are teaching them to fight and protect themselves. Jack is Mordecai's main trainer, but I won't tell you the reason. You have to read to discover that on your own. However, something happens with the training later that was unexpected. I can't wait to see where that goes. Also, Kieran brought in a new character, Bria, to help train Alexis. Bria is a strange one. She's crazy and always colors outside the lines. She loves danger, seeks it out pretty much. Excited to see where she winds up. Plus, the revelation about her better half's identity is one I certainly wasn't expecting.Still drooling over the Six. It's an all-you-can-eat buffet for us ladies. Yummy!🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤My favorite part was all the weird, unique one-liners that the author uses (i.e. Mother-trucker biscuit f%&$#%, just to name one of the many) that had me cracking up. Already adopted some of them. (Thank you to the author for extending my vocabulary.) This go around, I think my favorite part was all the new magical elements that the author added. I just loved it and I can't wait to see more.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Want to know what I'm talking about? Then make sure you purchase a copy of Sin & Magic by K.F. Breene.💰💰📗📗☑️✅I'm completely hooked on this series and there's still more to come. I can't wait to read the next book, Sin & Salvation.🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗(Possible Spoilers Below!)---------I'm gonna include some of the notes I took, thoughts I had while reading it. Hope you enjoy them!* Frank is proving to be quite sexist, even when he's being funny.* Zorn is one of the most intriguing characters of the bunch, can't wait to read more about him.* I'm excited to see where the kids' training leads.* Bria is awesome and it's my first meeting with her. YES!* Love the convo between Kieran and Alexis about her being late with technology and the little black book. Classic!* Chemistry + Kieran + Alexis = Off the charts, hot enough to melt metal.* Love when Bria describes Daisy as a gremlin! ROFL at that moment.* HOLY S***! Lexi has some serious mojo, scary stuff there.* I would have tanned some serious a**es for the B&E stunt.* Still intrigued by The Six. Looking forward to reading more about them. Discovering more of their powers and maybe some background details.* Phew!!! Some close calls and serious hotness up in the bedroom.* Elated for Lyra. That scene made me sad and joyful at the same time. Hard not to feel both for all in that moment.* How Cool! She connected them to one another; body, soul and magic. Sharing is caring! LOL!* Love the internal GPS bit. Wish I had that sometimes.* Woohoo! Lexi kicked some necromancer butt! WTG, girl.* Proud of Lexi. She stood her ground, put her foot down, made the choice for herself. Though, I'm not sure if that makes her brave or stupid. Guess we'll find out.* Love that Alexis, Mordecai and Daisy are such a close family. A family that has expanded by 7, 8 if you include the reluctant Kieran.* Done! I'm so hooked. I'm not sure I have enough patience to wait for the next book.

This book was hilariously fantastic. One of the big things that stood out to me was that Bria was a fantastic addition. She is absolutely hilarious. The way she speaks to everyone and her witty comments are priceless. She fits right in with Alexis and her crew.I was excited to see Alexis’ relationship with Kieran progress. Yes!!!! As well as Alexis learning more about her magic. What she did to Kieran and herself regarding their magic after they slept together was pretty cool!I’m still very excited to see Mordecai continue to progress in his abilities. His story is very interesting. His pain tolerance is so heartbreaking.I’m also interested in finding out why Zorn is so interested in training Daisy. As you can see, KF Breene writes fantastic characters that pull you in and give you no choice but to love them. This book and series is intriguing and keeps you wanting to come back for more!
