An absolutely beautiful pbook of florals. Its a flower colorist's dream..Positively a great purchase.

This book is lovely, as are all of Tabby's coloring books. Her drawings seem to be especially appropriate for shading, gradient, and sculptural effects. Each time I think she's outdone herself, she comes up with another book that transcends the last one. This one is especially lovely. Her books are printed on one side of the page only. The art is well-defined line work that is easy to see, but does not overwhelm the coloring potential. Some pages do have a black background to make the color pop, but there are also white pages with the same designs so you can choose or try both the white and dark backgrounds. The design on the cover of this book is typical of her drawings and was colored by her so you have an idea of what the artist had in mind for coloring her drawings. She also offers an excellent tutorial on how to create gradients/sculptural effects as seen on the cover of this book. I recommend all her books; pictures range from simple/easy to color to very complex.

I have purchased many of Tabitha Barnett's coloring books, and I love all of them! Of all of her coloring books, this one is my very favorite one! The lovely floral designs with birds, bees, butterflies, frogs etc. are exquisite! When I first looked through this book, I could not decide which picture to color, they are all my favorites! The mandalas as well are awesome, and no repeats of anything in any of her other coloring books, each one is very original! I recommend this book to all colorists, I promise you will love it. Attached below is the first picture I colored from this book!

Another win for Tabby! Another set of graceful drawings that can be as easy or detailed to color as you want them to be without distracting designs. Even though I posted a picture with a black background, the rest of the pictures have a white background so you can add your own background if you want.

This book is just another example of the incredible talent that Tabitha has. Every page has a completely unique, but equally beautiful design to color. They vary in detail, so there is something for every level of colorist. I would recommend any of her books to anyone. The only trouble you'll ever run into, is deciding which page to color first!

Bought this for my teenager at the recommendation of his percussion teacher. The kid has lots of band/orchestra percussion experience but just got a drumset. He's been very enthusiastic about working through the grooves, reading the book's explanation for each, watching the video demo of technique, then practicing with the playalong tracks. Apparently the playalong tracks are a lot of fun, because he often picks them over video games.There's a code in the book that he used to download the audio to his phone, more convenient than playing them off the DVD. One suggestion for players who wear earplugs or muffs: You'll want a pair of isolation headphones to hear the audio at reasonable volume over the drums.

You cannot go wrong with Tommy Igoe. His personality and delivery will hook you from the jump. You cannot manufacture personality, so despite all the other products on the market that teach drums, this one pulled me right in and made me feel like I am sitting in a room with Tommy rather than watching a DVD. I guess you'd have to experience it to understand, but he's just a terrific teacher and you feel like you are being totally supported in your learning.

This is an excellent set. It has dvd ancd(but be aware, the cd tracks are in mp3 format. They will not play in a regular cd player unless it has this feature. You download them to you mp3 player or a cd player with mp3 format. Tommy Igoe starts you from the beginning, but it is helpful if you have some drum basics. Groove 2.0 IS FOR ADVANCED PLAYERS. Get the combination from amazon cd/dvd 1.0, then move onto 2.0 I highly suggest both cd&dvd packaged together. Amazon stands by their products. So again if the cd does not play, you download to your computer, or play there. The dvd will play on any dvd player. It is by far an excellent resource on all the different types of grooves you can learn with examples of who to listen to-example James Brown_funk groove etc. This was well done and very comprehensive. Great book and DVD. My daughter is using it and she is getting good. I will minus 1 star and wish Tony would update the styles more in tune to todays music. Still a very good book worth the investment in money and time to learn how to play drums.

Not only is this package a great deal, it's a great deal on two must-have products. The book is written in the same casual, personable manner in which Tommy speaks on his DVDs, which keeps things lively and light even as the grooves get progressively more difficult. I am a neophyte drummer, but Tommy's clean charting style makes everything seem easy. Furthermore, the play-along pieces on the DVD are perfect; playing along with your favorite artists is one thing, but this DVD allows the beginner to really feel as if he or she is part of the band rather than just robotically following another drummer. Finally, Tommy's emphasis on grooves over fills (which come in time as your creativity and skills develop anyway) ensures that the student isn't distracted by the flashy stuff before learning the real business of rock-solid drumming.If you're even remotely interesting in learning to play drums or expanding your existing drumming skill-set, buy this package deal NOW before the publishers realize it's worth three times the price.

The only thing I did not like about this product was that I was expecting a cd, but had to download it online. I like the fact that it covers just about all you need to know on the drums.

CD didn't work. DVD didn't show the variations. But overall, a good book.

The first 72 reviews came from shills, as they're all between January 27 and February 7, when all of them suddenly stopped. Most are a couple of sentences long. With a banana on the cover, it calls itself out as a non-keto book. Disgraceful. Do not buy this book.

I got this books for a college class and found myself learning a lot more than I had expected. In this book you examine why, in Japan, things look the way they do and are built in the ways they are. You really delve into the cultural significance as well as the spiritual, What you take away from this book is an understanding of the why the materials that were used in feudal buildings were and are still used today. Not a boring book at all. It does get dark sometimes while reading, no pun intended, but nothing too drastic. The read was smooth and I retained a lot of what I read. This book is a classic, and gives you a great perspective into Japanese aesthetics as a historical driving force in Japan. It also allows for you to make your own conclusions on if aesthetics are still present in Japan to this day and if its existence is still relevant to Japanese culture. It is not a very long book at all and you can knock it out in a very short while. Though it is short, you will have a better understanding of Japanese sociology as well as the reasons why Japan has formed the way it has. Overall, I felt this book offered a lot. This book has been around for a while, and I am glad that I got around to reading it. If you are interested in Japan at all, please take a look at this book and get a feel for the country, more than just the superficial and stereotypical "sushi" and "manga" perspectives. You'll take away a lot more than anyone else who just looks at current Japan ever will. Light, easy read with very insightful explanations of Japanese sociological workings and their reasons for existing. Recommend.

This was an interesting book about light and shadows, but it's more or less a commentary on the differences between cultures and a desire to maintain a cultural identity and values in the modern age. I use the term "modern" loosely, because while the book was written several decades ago (the publication date is listed as 1977, but the essay appears to have originated much earlier), the basic principles of aesthetics still apply today. We're still grappling with influences in architecture, technology, and design that have the potential to change the manner and pace through which we approach life.

This book offers some interesting insight into some of Japan's cultural history through the perspective of one who values it. The original author highly values some aspects of Japanese tradition and portrays some particular practices. Personally, I started to gloss over some pages when the author said he wasn't trying to whine because times are changing, and then spent the rest of the book whining anyway.

This is a gem of a book. Beautifully translated by Harper and Seidensticker, this series of brief meditations on Japanese aesthetics moves seemingly randomly among topics as diverse as theatre, women, lacquerware, food, toilets, hotels, and electric lights. The passage on the Japanese toilet is worth the price of the book, even if it is unclear how serious Tanizaki was being. And the section on lacquerware is one to be treasured and read again. Tanizaki mourns the passing of much of what he sees as the essence of Japan's shadow-enshrined aesthetic sensibility. But what can be done? In the end, even he finds he must acknowledge certain benefits of modern life, and he refuses to go farther than he deems practical (or affordable) in recreating the material life of the past for himself. Nevertheless, his observations clearly come from the soul of a man who feels a combination of loss and appreciation for a time when light and shadow revealed precisely what needed to be revealed, and no more. If you have never thought that sipping soup, bathing, or using the toilet could be an aesthetic experience, read this book.

I was forced to read this for my media aesthetics film class. I could not get past page 6. If you want to learn about Japanese value on toilets and bathrooms and such things, this is probably a good book for you. It's a thin book but it spans many topics. I believe there is a moment where they talk about adultery ???

while only about 50 pages I found this essay to provide a nice insight on their appreciation of architecture, enjoying the small things and ect. It was borderline humorous and poked fun at Western Civilization which made it all the better. Some very good points and examinations

It's a short read, but still in-depth enough to intrigue you. This essay will give you a very different perspective on things you've never thought of. It shows the beauty in the mundane and the anesthetics of darkness and ambiguity.
