I thought the first installment, "Fate's Fables," was a fun and intriguing book with an original concept. This second installment has more of a sci-fi feel that felt like a literary form of whiplash. While it was good to revisit characters, I felt it was odd for them to suddenly go from a medieval fantasy setting to something like "Warehouse 13." The concept of the Keep baffles me (how is it best that a single human from Earth look after an entire planetoid full of dangerous magical artifacts?), and I didn't like how the villains seemed to come right out of nowhere.
T. Rae Mitchell writes a fantastical transition between Fate's Fables and this new book: Fate's Keep. The story between Fate and Finn during an ever-changing conflict, is what hooks readers and grasps the imagination in this action-packed adventure. If you're a fan of fairy tales and action, this is the series for you. I wasn't sure how I would feel at first about this red-haired and hot-tempered heroine, but she won my dedication as I became enthralled in the plot and her cause. This is a highly addicting series and be prepared to let the rest of the world go by, while you're transported into another land of wonder and enchantment.
I could not continue reading this book and stopped around chapter 3. I think it may be for teenagers, which I am not. The story line was so unrealistic that it was hard to relate.
Great book for an easy read. The characters are easy to follow. Hoping for a sequel soon. The most recent book had some sections i would glance over (or skim). Overall it is a very well written book though. I finished it in under two days and I am eagerly awaiting the next book. I am so hoping for a happy ending soon. The main characters being stuck in "I love you. I can't have you." is frustrating, but it still works somehow. You can definitely tell how much time, imagination, and effort the author has put into these books.
I have been reading the series of books. I enjoyed all of them. Looking forward to seeing what happens next. I like the way T. Rae Mitchell makes you feel like you are right there with them.. I like her style of writing.
This is definitely a different kind of story, and some of the new characters are interesting. Especially at the end. I think I like Brune best of all and wonder what will happen to her in the next installment.
I cannot wait to read the next installment! I fell in love with all the characters instantly. I highly recommend these books to anyone who loves a good fairytale, quest, and good vs evil.
Sadly, I scanned most of the pages taking place in The Keep. It was a different monster but, the same fear biting at the back of her throat, the same misjudgment, the same pain gripping her arm (shoulder, leg, cheek, head...), same last minute rescue. I really wanted to like this sequel but nah.
