You know that you've struck gold when you don't want to return a picture book to the library. I kept hold of this one until the last day, and it legitimately saddened me to drop it in the return chute. I now have it on order from Amazon. I do not buy very many books, but I cherish the ones that I do. For me, this is an instant classic.The illustrations, done in pen and watercolor on handmade paper, are beautiful. I consistently enjoy McDonnell's style and this one doesn't disappoint.The story starts out cute enough and gets better as it goes along. Three little friends have a fun time during a sleepover. When it's time to lay down, they go over all the things they are thankful for during the day. The prose here is beautiful. The ending, which was a happy little twist, filled my heart with unexpected joy. I could read this one every night to my children.

McDonnell blends humor and a sensitive message of gratitude beautifully. A MUST have! My three year old had me read it three times in a row the first night.

Oh my gosh, what an adorable book! Everything about this book is fantastic...the characters are absolutely adorable, the storyline is cute, and illustrations are well done. My kids all liked this book - especially my 3 yr old. Makes a great bedtime storybook!

My 2 year old daughter loves this book, it's her new favorite. It's a sweet story about friends, what we're thankful for and sharing. We read it every night and it helps get her settled into her crib at bedtime.

Thank you and Good Night is a lovely little story that encourages imaginations and nurtures grateful hearts. It harkens back to the days of Goldilocks, Winnie the Pooh, Babar and the Velveteen Rabbit. Patrick McDonnell's drawings and colors are exquisite, and his bedtime rhyme is especially touching. You will count your blessings after reading this dreamy tale of Maggie and her three animal friends.

The drawings make this book. It's perfect for end-of-the-day reading and delivers a fun twist at the end. My daughter loves the character names, which were probably chosen for their obvious alliteration qualities. I like the idea of teaching kids to be grateful for the simple things in life.

I love this book. Such a sweet little story! Teaches appreciation for simple pleasures and good friends by example, not by preaching. An important lesson for any toddler/preschooler. We are not religious, so this aproach to greatfulness is even more appreciated by me.

I love everything about this book, including the heartfelt text and adorable art. It's a fun story to read - about a sleepover - and children can be encouraged to recall things they are thankful for before going to sleep. And I love the surprise ending.

And so my collection begins!... If you've seen the Hunter x Hunter anime most likely you know what you're already in for! And if you haven't then just buy the volume it's relatively cheap anyway and it definitely won't disappoint! But if you're still on the fence about spending your money on some "questionable" manga then, go and watch some of the anime on a free-to-watch anime site or any other subscription based one whichever your means just watch it! You'll be hooked whether it sub or dub I can almost say without a doubt you'll fall in love with it! I've always been a fan of Mr. Togashi's work especially Yoshihiro's golden child Yu Yu Hakusho! Being long since established as one the best during its time both critically and commercially... well maybe that's an overstatement but it's grade A reading material and it's one of the best in my opinion, I'm not the only one here! So, all in all just let that speak volumes for itself and if somehow throughout any of this you're still not sold on HxH just ask around a anime community ('cause you're clearly a anime fan already) you'll find your answer and if you're a aspired collector like myself you'll unquestionably want this one added to your growing collection!

I bought the first three books in this series for my teen-aged grandson because they were on his birthday present idea list. He said they were good, really held his interest and he wants to read more in this series.

Excellent drawing details and plot.As much as you might think Hunter x Hunter is for little kids, it's not. There will be quite a bit of gore later on in the series. Hunter x Hunter is by far my most favorite series ever.

Greatness at a discounted rate, how can you lose? Manga cake in perfect condition and at a steal of a price.

I'm a huge fan of Hunter X Hunter ever since I heard Togashi did another series after YuYu Hakusho. It has a fantastically interesting story and wonderful characters, and this is the book that started it all (and didn't take several volumes to get to a good pace like most mangas). Highly recommend picking it up!

HUNTER X HUNTER <3 LOVE!!!! Book is well printed and in good shape; no issues.

Literally one of the best adventure series I have ever had the pleasure of reading. This volume is kind of slow but it really picks up as the story moves forward. Don't let the art deter you from enjoying a wonderfully written story.

If you were unaware of the connection between vaccinations and allergies and other medical conditions before, you will certainly be well informed after reading this book. I am thankful my child was born before it was common practice to combine so many vaccines into one injection. When I learned of this practice, I severely questioned the wisdom of prevailing thought. Although some of the terminology and medical data contained here can be intimidating, the overall information relayed is invaluable. I am wondering what is contained in vaccines offered today and if this scenario is still being played out in today's society.

An incredibly informative book. I wish I found the older edition before my kids arrived... I doubt we'd be having to constantly buy Epi Pens and check the ingredients of every little thing our first-born eats. And I consider us to be among the lucky ones... it's such a tragedy so many families have been through much worse. Heather Fraser pretty much drops the mic on what is causing this epidemic, but it's about much more than just peanut allergy ... any parent or prospective parent who is concerned about keeping their kids healthy and free of auto-immune and cognitive disorders (and worse) should pick this up, read it, and pass it on to someone they love.

Peanut allergies did not exist a century ago. Heather Frasier exposes the reason why they occur today in one in fifty American children. Many vaccine use peanut oil as an adjuvant. When a study was done on this practice was done in the early '70s, Congress' response was to pass a law in 1973 permitting vaccine companies to not put "inactive" ingredients on the vaccine packages, calling their formulas secret and proprietary, never mind that they were killing and disabling many thousands. The peanut oil in vaccines sensitizes many to peanut protein, resulting in peanut allergies on later exposure to peanuts, with sometimes fatal results. Frasier includes statistics on exactly how quickly peanut allergies in the US exploded: in the wake of the Hib vaccine being put on the universal vaccine schedule in 1987, the incidence of peanut allergy increased three times in only three years. This is an aside, no included in this book: Israel has very few peanut allergies, because the vaccines manufactured there do not use peanut oil, but rather sesame oil, so they have a lot of sesame allergies in their children. This is an extremely detailed, well-researched book that all parents should read, and gives us yet another reason to just say no to vaccines. (My daughter reacted to the hep-B vax at birth, given without permission, with encephalitis, to the DTaP at 18 months with having her only two words erased, and was diagnosed with autism two months later. She got pertussis at 8 months after having had three DTaPs, but caught the disease anyway, because the vaccine is very ineffective while still very dangerous. I wish that I had not permitted her to get any vaccines.)

Heather Fraser did after her child had an anaphylactic reaction to peanut butter.I’ve heard that a worried mom with a sick kid does better research than the FBI, and this book proves that point.WHY IS THAT?******************Ms. Fraser quickly points out that peanut allergy used to be a concern only for Western countries – why is that?She indicates that there was a sudden rise in the U.K., U.S., Canada and Australia around 1990, and it worsened through the 2000′s – why is that?The odds of a Western child developing a peanut allergy were 1 in 75 as of 2008 – why is that?She also writes that the person most likely to develop a peanut allergy is a male born after about 1990 in said Western countries whose “ability to detoxify had been challenged by environmental factors” – why is that?She finds it difficult to accept, as do I, that “hundreds of thousands of children had become allergic to this one food in the space of just twenty years by ingestion alone.”You can’t blame it on genetics, as the overall rate would stay the same. Logically, there would have to be something in the environment (food, toxins, etc.) that’s triggering this rise.AN EPIDEMIC OF CHILDREN'S CHRONIC HEALTH CONDITIONS*****************************************************************************For those of you who don’t know me, I am a Certified Holistic Health Counselor and Board Member of Epidemic Answers, a non-profit that provides information to parents of children with autism, ADHD, allergies, asthma and any other chronic neurological, behavioral, digestive and/or autoimmune conditions (the etiology is the same). We let parents know that recovery is possible.I began my own investigations into this epidemic after my sons developed colic, projectile vomiting, cradle cap, ear infections, severe acid reflux, developmental delays, failure to thrive, asthma, Sensory Processing Disorder, hypotonia, eczema, mitochondrial dysfunction and food sensitivities (HINT: They’re all related.)This is why I find Ms. Fraser’s book so fascinating: she is another mom that has learned to think for herself and do her own research and find out WHY this epidemic is happening.STANDARD THEORIES NOT SUFFICIENT**************************************************She writes about different theories and why they alone are not sufficient to describe this epidemic. These theories are: The broken-skin hypothesis The ingestion hypothesis The toxin hypothesis The helminth (worm) hypothesisInstead, Ms. Fraser proposes a new hypothesis: the dramatic increase in peanut allergies happened at the same time that the number of vaccines that children were given also increased dramatically.And why not? She points out to us that “immunologist and Nobel laureate Charles Richet and pediatrician Clemens von Pirquet were able to show how the injection of vaccine proteins had caused the first allergy epidemic” over 100 years ago.Apparently, we’ve forgotten our history, so we’re doomed to repeat it.SO WHAT'S CAUSING IT?*******************************With the skill of the historian that she is, Ms. Fraser points out several key facts that point to our vaccination policy as the cause of this alarming rise in peanut allergy, which is paralleled by alarming rises in autism, ADHD, asthma and other chronic health conditions.The clues she details are:* “Medical literature illustrated that the only means by which immediate and mass allergy had ever been caused was by injection.” It used to be called “serum sickness” as early as the 1890′s.* Multi-dose vaccines came into being after President Reagan “signed the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act from which emerged the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) in 1988. VICP was a ‘no-fault’ alternative to the tort system… (and) the pressures on vaccine makers eased.”* In 1985, 7 vaccines were given to children. By 2007, the number had grown to 37.* Beginning in 1993, multiple vaccinations were given in a single needle.* Vaccines are loaded with adjuvants, such as aluminum, that stimulate the body to mount an immune response. Adjuvants can cause allergic reactions and are the “immunologists’ dirty little secret’. Aluminum is a known IgE-stimulating adjuvant.* Peanut oil is used to make vaccine formulations. I got this book on a whim as I couldn't really find any other beginners Astrophotography books, especially in a reasonable price range. I was a little hesitant to order because of the lack of reviews but I am glad I did. To let you know my experience level: I am below amateur. I haven't even bought any equipment (other than a Celestron 60AZ which isn't good for much in this area, just bought it so I could learn the stars) I haven't read the whole book yet either but I am about 1/4 through it.The author is very fair, he talks about his preferred methods and equipment but does not skimp on the details for the other options that are available. The very first thing he discusses in the book is everyone's greatest concern: cost. It is very detailed (like everything else in the book) and does not direct you one way or another, just lets you know the options depending on your desired result.He talks in detail about the different mounts, autoguiders, telescopes, cameras, accessories, and programs needed to process the images. This book is really a one-stop-shop as far as it goes for astrophotography. I have learned more in reading 75 pages of this book than I have with about a month of research browsing forums online. I am pleasantly surprised and highly recommend this book for anyone looking to start this hobby!

I used this book to go from ZERO to Astrophotographer. I have purchased some other books on the subject, as well, but this remains my favorite go-to problem solver. I guess one of my favorite things about the book, (and it is a theme that runs through several of Mr. Hall's other books, (I think I now own everything he's published on the subject of astronomy)), is that he solves problems with techniques that do not all involve spending large sums of money... he can lead the aspiring astrophotographer into the hobby without putting them into the poor house. (Mind you, there's no way to do any of this stuff for free, however.) He helps one spend their money where it does the most good.I consider the book indispensable, and I continue to get more good information out of it as I learn more. If I had to choose among the books that I have on the subject, this one would be my choice, hands down. (But, to be clear, I am greatly relieved that I am not forced to make that choice.)I bought this book before I purchased any astronomy gear. I believe that reading it and largely, if not completely, following Mr. Hall's advice, helped me build up an inventory of astrophotography gear that I use regularly, and helped me avoid spending money on things that I don't need, or that I would later want to replace with something "better" meaning that I'd have spent money twice on one thing.The book is a great investment.KWL

The author approached the topic from the premise the reader has never done in Astrophotography which in my case is true. One particular section of the book I liked showed a price estimate of different systems ranging from a few hundred dollars through many thousands of dollars along with the advantages of each system. I actually used this as a guide to put together my system. Each system lists the main components including the telescope, software, camera, mounts, etc. Albeit, I have substituted many components in my system, but having a starting point from a price vs performance standpoint got me much closer to finding all the components I needed quicker than starting from scratch.The author also listed every single component of his system which was extremely helpful. All the 'minor' components such as filters to flashlights add up to be a sizable amount of money and needs to taken into account when selecting the components for your system. I found the easiest way to put together my system was to list all the components needed by name and then set the total dollar amount I wanted to spend. After that it becomes a balancing act as to how much you can afford to spend on each component. My list of components consists of 50 items.My toughest dilemma is deciding on what type of camera to use. The basic technology of telescopes doesn't change much over the years, but the camera technology and CCD capabilities are changing quickly and there are many choices. I am still researching. I also think going ahead and spending the 'extra' money on top of the line software and a good telescope mount is of major importance from a photography standpoint.I have had many hobbies in my life and the one thing I find to be true is that if you truly think you are going to immerse yourself in a particular hobby then go ahead and spend the money upfront to get what you probably will end up with in the end. Starting with 'sub par' equipment and then working your way up to the system you really want in my opinion is a frustrating route to take and not the best from a financial, time, and enjoyment standpoint. I would say this is especially true with Astrophotography. Going to all the trouble that it takes to get a photograph of a planet or a deep space object to find out that the quality isn't what you are wanting isn't my idea of a good time. If I want a full size truck I don't need to start with a wheelbarrow. But, then again I don't have an unlimited budget so the importance of picking and choosing the components with a budgeted amount of money becomes important which with me is an enjoyable part of any hobby. Did I get the best bang for my buck?! In that regard this book pointed me down a good path.I don't think an experienced photographer would find this book 'hard to put down', but as a newbie to Astrophotography this book was very valuable and I will forever blame this book in causing me to spend more money on this hobby than I wanted. LOL

1st of All: I am an amateur with about 6 months experience. I have an Equatorial with an 8'' Newtonian and been dabbling in Astrophotography with my DSLR.I love this book (first bought kindle... love it so much, that I also bought the hardcopy, because it does take baby steps... The author will not start with unfamiliar terms, without first introducing them.The build-up is tremendous... it certainly starts with the basics giving you a very thorough background... even when I "thought" I had surmounted some of those fledgling challenges... I now know not only what I did wrong, but why it was wrong and how to fix it.Look, I'm pretty picky, and yes very resourceful, so I have been hitting the internet but still, have not found all the information.. and certainly not as well organized as the author presents it.So, now I'm checking for other books this author may have written.Great job Allan! thank you.

This is a very good read even if you are not totally a horse person. I read N.Brown's FAR TRAVELER and I like to readthoughtful nonfiction. This book gives her deep background in Icelandic and Saga studies, her coming to know Iceland and its people a bit and then her love affair with the Icelandic horse. They don't allow any other kinds of horses in Iceland so this breed has bred its particular kind for a long time, and it has unusual qualities. Finding the right horse for her, only a fair rider, and finding the right way to get one of these horses is very revealing about life, her, the Icelanders she got to know some, and about that magical bond some humans have with what I once read as described as "wisdom in the form of a horse." Very very enjoyable read.

The author's story of her experience purchasing an Icelandic horse was engaging. She is certainly knowledgeable about Icelandic history and the Icelandic sagas, and her explanation of people, place and even horse names related to Icelandic sagas and mythology was appreciated. Her indecision and confusion about which horses to choose and the uncertainty about the reliability of some of the breeders she met with kept the story interesting. It would have been nice to have more information about her satisfaction with her choices after the horses were delivered to her farm in the States.

This was a great book. I was originally interested in it because I wanted to get back into riding and was looking for anything on Icelandic horses. With a back problem, the tolt seemed like a gait that I would be able to handle and they are one of the few breeds that do it. But, the book also adds a lot of information on Icelandic history and the sagas from their mythology. It incorporates it in with the locations and stories which is a great way to do it. There is also a lot of information on the country and the people. I found it very interesting to learn more about the way they view things and why. So, if you like horses it is a great book. But, if you don't like horses, it is still a great book. A wonderful story, along with a lot of other interesting things to learn about.

I just bought an Icelandic and I loved every last detail of this book. Being a bit of a researcher at heart, I loved the careful and complete descriptions Nancy Marie Brown provided. It was a wonderful journey into a world and culture I was, as yet, unfamiliar with. I will say, the very best part of this book, for me, was that the type of horse she was seeking, and what I had been seeking for 20+ years, were all found in this unique breed. ....Don't think I will EVER stray from Icelandics again.

This wonderfully written, beautiful book is the perfect guide for the U.S. horse enthusiast who has discovered the magic of the Icelandic horse. While every Icelandic has a magic to it embued by 1,000 years of culture and its direct ties to the Viking times and spirit, not every Icelandic horse will fit the riding style and dreams of every U.S. rider. These horses are loved because they are different from what we know: they are self-assured, friendly, beautiful, and comfortable--but they are different, and building a successful, "joyful" partnership with an Icelandic horse requires these differences to be understood and respected. Nancy's chronicle of her own search for the perfect Icelandic horse--at times hilarious--at times deeply moving--always insightful-- relays a practical wisdom regarding the Icelandic horse that only comes from knowledge, personal experience and astute reflection. I had first read this book when I had begun seriously competing Icelandic horses. I have gifted this book to many non-riders who have enjoyed it enormously. And I have read and re read it four times--the best review I can give!

Not very many books provide a good sense of horses in Iceland. (at least, not in English) Or a good sense of why Iceland is such a great place to visit. This book deserves a lot more attention than it received.

I really enjoy Nancy Marie Brown's work. Her combination of research, saga, memoir and just great writing make this a book a good read. If you like Icelandic culture, want to learn about Icelandic horses, like sagas or want to explore Iceland from an arm chair this is a nice book. I recommend having a map of Iceland nearby so that you can see where the towns, farms and geographic and historic features are located. There are tiny maps at the beginning of the book-- I found them too small. I kept reading a chapter, finding more research, reading a chapter, googling a topic, reading a chapter, then looking up a saga, asking questions or friends, family and the author-- the circle continues. When completed two others will borrow my book. Enjoy.

Great drill book

I've had the book for about a month and it's already paid for itself. I've already used or modified a dozen drills in Squirt-level practice.Speaking as a house-level and part-time-travel coach, this book is a terrific guide for adding to your practice plan repertoire.

This text provides more drills than I imagined. I got more ideas for practice plans in the first ten minutes of reading this than the other books in which I read the whole thing. This will help my team now.

This book is good for a beginner coach. I've played hockey competitively enough to spend time in the minors and believe more in the USNDP principals and theories of keeping as many players moving as possible. This book may work better for a team that has more skills already pronounced where they can get more repetitions through ease of the drills. If you have a team of 20 players, generally 17 of your kids may be waiting in line as the others run the drill.I bought it and wish I previewed it better. It wasn't much help to me but if you don't know where to start for something specific like "how to breakout on the power play" then this may be good for you.

Excellent book. I will never run out of ideas to challenge my skaters. The book is well diagramed with full explanations for each drill. The drills are presented in well-defined categories and progressions. Highly recommended for coaches of all levels.

This book is a great training asset. I coach 6th grade Dek hockey and I am using this book to turn my kids around from a slower non aggressive team to a quicker more aggressive one and we are having a lot of fun doing it. It is well written and illustrated to help explain the drills. Just a great book.

Great help in planning practices. Well organized with simple drill explanations. Every coach should use this book it makes finding an area you need to work on quick with lots of options.

This a great book for all those that teach the sport of hockey....this is a great tool and will be for many years to come. This book is great for Mite age all the way through High School.

Written for lawyers but entirely understandable for laymen. Really drives home the importance of jury selection.

On The Jury TrialI was at a lull in a constellation of litigation and someone pointed me to this book. I have retired from public life, and am now become a law student, and of necessity a pro se litigant or litigation adviser to others at no charge. My handbook for pro se litigants requires two books - The Holy Bible, and Blackstone's Commentaries. Proper study of these two books, and the most recent Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, will equip one with the equivalent of a Harvard education of 1850, and you will not be disadvantaged in any courtroom proceeding. For extra credit, or just plain entertainment, listen to George Gordon's Hour of Power, and get an edge.I have not previously encountered such a book as this one. Presenting your story to the jury has been quite simply a learn-as-you-go process. You may practice for thirty-eight years and never encounter a jury. You may encounter a jury every week for thirty-eight years, and if you are fortunate you may learn what you are able to read in this book in four hours. In thirty-eight years, you will have thirty-eight years invested, and your clients will have several hundred dollars invested. And as they say, one learns more from losing than winning.If you are a pro se litigant, read this book. It is now Book Three in my syllabus. If you are a professional attorney already, don't waste your time. You have many important things to do today. I hope we meet up in court sometime.

Condensing years of experience into entertaining and understandable anecdotes is a nearly impossible task; however, Tom Melsheimer and Judge Craig Smith were able to do just that. They have seen it all when it comes to jury trials. Not only have they mastered the procedural elements, but they have mastered the key ingredients for helping us all present our thoughts and arguments in the most effective way possible (in ways that are also helpful to non-lawyers). For years, they worked tirelessly on this book – swapping war stories, reviewing transcripts, and putting pen to paper on some of the concepts they spent their entire career perfecting. The authors have done a fabulous job of sharing their decades of experience and knowledge in an easy to read book. Whether you have been practicing for 35 years like me, or are a second-year law student like my son, this book is a MUST HAVE for a trial lawyer. It covers the basics, but then adds insight and invaluable tips from two top lawyers who have spent their careers in the trenches. Lawyers spend hundreds of dollars to attend CLE programs for a fraction of the useful information contained in this book. If you want real continuing legal education, read this book.

One of the most practical trial books I have ever read. As a Civil Trial specialist certified in Civil Trial Law by the Board of Legal Specialization, I have not read a book before that dissects trial transcripts and identifies both good and bad practice tips on real lawyer examples like this book does. As a managing partner of my firm I have bought this for all my trial attorneys and highly recommend any civil trial practitioner (no matter what the experience) to read!

Salient advice. Easy to digest. Excellent read. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to increase their efficiency and effectiveness in the courtroom (which should be everyone, right?). The authors' use of real trial transcripts to drive home techniques really sets this book apart. Also a fun read for anyone who's simply curious about what the courtroom is really like.

This book is a thorough, yet easily digestible, guideline that can and should be used by law students, practitioners, professors, or anyone else looking to learn the best practices when advocating during a jury trial. This book is unique in that it details the perspective of not only the trial attorney, but also the perspective of a judge.

Thomas Melsheimer and Judge Craig Smith have written the definitive book on the jury trial. This book is a must-read for any aspiring litigator. The authors distill their two lifetimes of legal experience in a condense, easy-to-read format. I especially benefited from the chapter entitled "Judge's Viewpoint."
