A sweet and romantic story. Without any big dramatic events, it held my attention and kept me entertained.I have a soft spot for ODC reuniting in London, as in this story, where Elizabeth followed Jane to town. The chance encounter happened fairly quickly which mean the introduction part did not last very long. A good thing, as it lacked the a hook in the first pages. Elizabeth and her aunt happened upon Mr Darcy in the company of his sister and Colonel. Georgiana took an instant liking to Elizabeth and Darcy noticed Elizabeth's dislike of him which were not concealed. She was rude but she had reasons to be vexed...Ends in a lovely epilogue. A good first attempt from Fulton. Personally, I would have liked more action but I am a little jaded after reading an extensive amount of JAFF.
A pleasant re-envisioning of P&P that had sufficient differences to make it an appealing tale & enough similarities to the original (including the occasional line of dialogue) to generate a sense of familiarity for devotees of this time-honoured romance. The majority of events took place in London, whereby Georgiana, Col. Fitzwilliam & the Gardiners contributed more significantly towards success of the romantic endeavours of Jane, Bingley, Elizabeth & Darcy. The superior sister's efforts at interference caused some heartache. However, on the whole this story was relatively angst-free story which concentrated on the interactions amongst the principal protagonists & matters were resolved in a fairly condensed time-frame. The emotional highs-&-lows of the narrative were not diminished by the absence of the scandalous elopement scenario nor the Rosings/Hunsford debacle. As a debut novella (in this genre) it was an enjoyable read with only the occasional vocabulary mistake & historical inaccuracy.
I stopped reading at 56% when faced with the sentence above. I think it is disrespectful to the reader to publish without a competent proofreading. There were numerous, jarring, word misuses throughout the text. This one put me over the edge. Writers, if you are not an extensive reader and rely on vague “sounds like†words to try to sound period appropriate, we can tell. When you use a word Improperly it indicates that you: A. Don’t know what it means and, B. don’t care enough to check. Or C don’t even know you don’t know which may be worse. When uncertain, use a word you actually know.
I like this rather unique story line! The author took pains with the plot and treats the characters with personalities in line with the original book. Yes, there are some editing stumbles but none that destroy your following the story. The story is unique in plot path and I especially appreciated that the scenes similar in the original book were completely rewritten with new phrases rather than copying directly from the original. To come up with alternate phrasing is a real plus to me! This story is low-angst and pleasant to read. I certainly hope this author will produce additional stories!
This story is a very pleasant read. I really liked the description of Georgiana and I enjoyed the quick resolution of ODC's story. The "flower in the hair" was a very nice and original touch. It was rather a 4.5 * but I think a new author deserves some encouragement.

Not very interesting. Some editing problems. Plot lurches forward in places as if characters views of other characters have changed and the change is just assumed.Story is short and on KU so it wouldn’t hurt to give it a read.
